While Labyrinthian is my favourite metal track on this record, Become Ethereal, to me, is Serena's love letter to Jeremy Soule's ES:V OST. You can clearly hear that it has affected her deeply. Refreshing melodic black.

I didn't think Rhetoric of the Image could be beaten but Torpor have used it as a base to push everything further on Abscission. Stunning mixes of doom, sludge, post-metal and drone combine to make a record that only has one flaw - it finishes.
I fucking love Torpor and this is an incredible achievement.

This one really goes deep. Tremendously heavy and bleak, yet crushingly groovy as well. You can easily see these guys destroying any venue they'd hit live with this. The heavy hitting slow to mid-tempo tunes are sort of tranceinducing. It's very easy to listen to it multiple times in a row or even get lost in it totally. mourner
